Exclusive, cutting-edge technology meets expert podiatry at Marple Physio

If you have a foot or gait-related lower limb problems (or related muskuloskeletal issues), why not try out our highly regarded podiatry department? Here at Marple Physio in Stockport, we’re very proud of our gait-analysis system. We are the only practice in the North West to offer diagnostics and treatment using a combination of two state-of-the art pieces of equipment: the RSscan footscan® and Optigait system.

The RSscan footscan® lets a podiatrist to look at exactly how your foot functions as it moves. It reads the pressure and force distribution in your feet at high speed, as you walk across the footscan plate. The podiatrist can then identify dangerous pressure areas before problems develop or worsen. The footscan also helps us custom-make high-quality orthotics – the in-shoe devices that correct foot position to relieve functional or anatomical issues. Our orthotics have a carbon-fibre shell, a lifetime guarantee and fit the majority of shoes. They can be tailored to your individual needs or sporting activities.

The Optogait system lets us analyse exactly how you move and provides a functional assessment. Highly accurate optical sensors detect the relevant space and time parameters for gait, running or other sporting or functional movements. The system collects data which is then combined with video imaging to allow accurate detection of problem areas, assessing your mechanical inefficiencies and asymmetries. All this lets us suggest the very best treatment – and the equipment can then be used to monitor your progress.

Combining this cutting-edge technology with our podiatrist’s expert observation and hands-on assessment skills and treatment means we’re confident the care you receive at Marple Physio will be second to none.

What our patients say:

I had back pain for almost 20 years until I was referred to Julie. She thoroughly assessed my feet, walking and running in her gait lab. I was prescribed specially made insoles and they have literally changed my life. I am now pain free and enjoying running and hill walking.
Gemma Borgert

What our podiatrist says:

Optogait and RSscan footscan® help make my biomechanical assessments as accurate as possible and easy for my patients to see and understand. The Optogait is especially useful when measuring someone’s performance and rehabilitation during podiatry and physiotherapy treatments. The RSscan gives me data about the pressure load and distribution under the foot that I can’t determine by visual analysis – and let’s me create bespoke orthotics based on individual footprints. Both pieces of equipment have revolutionised podiatry practice and I’m excited to be at the forefront.
