A leading provider of neuro physiotherapy in Stockport.
As a physiotherapist treating neurological conditions, the aim is to optimise your potential through a variety of treatment techniques and education.
Each neurological condition presents differently, but some symptoms that may be experienced include reduced strength and movement of limbs, altered balance, changes in sensation, reduced co-ordination, increased stiffness in limbs, visual disturbances, and increased fatigue.
Neuro rehabilitation is tailored to each individual, as people who have neurological conditions may experience multiple symptoms at the same time.
Specialist neuro physiotherapy
At Marple Physio, our specialists support those who experience neurological conditions, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injuries.
Some neurological conditions can progress over time and require physiotherapy interventions to help maintain physical function.
Neuro physiotherapy treatment options
Our neuro physiotherapy consultations begin with a comprehensive initial assessment, which will include an opportunity for you to discuss your goals and desired outcomes from the therapy you will receive.
Detailed assessments are crucial for effective treatment as quite often neurological conditions may present with multiple symptoms.
It is important to understand the history of your condition and other medical conditions you have that could be influencing factors in how you are functioning physically.
Please bring any consultant letters or relevant information about your condition, as well as past medical history with you to your initial consultation.
Physiotherapy treatments for neurological conditions vary depending on your condition. All treatments provided are evidence based and supported by national guidelines.
Neuro physiotherapy treatments include:
- Manual therapy
- Passive stretches
- Hands on facilitation in functional tasks
- Tailored exercise programmes
- Education and advice
We offer neuro physiotherapy at our clinic in Marple, Stockport, and within your home environment.
When contacting the clinic, please discuss what options you prefer and what level of physical function you have to ascertain if the clinic is the appropriate setting for your treatments.
In order to provide the most effective neuro physiotherapy treatment, we always work closely with our clients’ GPs or consultants, and will refer you for further medical consultation, if needed.
At Marple Physio, all our physiotherapists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
